Being a sustainable brand owner comes with a whole set of internal conflicts :

  • I say I’m promoting sustainability, which is all about consuming less, yet I am trying to sell my own products.
  • Is discounting to sell more a sustainable practice?
  • I want to provide the best possible raw materials for every little component, but that comes at a cost that customers wouldn’t be able to pay. If I sell too little, how will I build a profitable business?

Lately, I’ve seen too many brands using sustainability as a buzzword and a means to sell more. They also discount their products every other week, leading me to question their true motives and how much they actually care about the environment.

Where does it stop? Where does the line get drawn? I have no answers yet.
